Day22

Melbourne

Tuesday 6 November

7:00 AM. Woke up and checked out my activities for today. I wished the blokes good luck on their horse gambling during the Melbourne's Cup. The weather today is kind of cloudy and a bit rainy too. Not a nice way to start a day. Off for a shower and to put on some clothes to stroll down Melbourne. Bought a tram day-pass for only $ 5.00 AUD. What a real bargain!

As I walked outside the hostel it was already raining a bit. That didn't make me real happy. A short walk to the tram stop. Boarded the tram and use my day-pass. Travelled for a short period and I asked someone if this was the tram to town. Nope! Ooh no! I got out at the next stop and took the opposite tram to town.

It was around noon, time for lunch. I wanted something simple and easy to eat. Found a Turkish shop selling kebab. Bought a menu, kebab, chips and a bottle of Gatorade. After the eating frenzy I walked to the Melbourne Aquarium. It was still raining, but fortunately I could walk underneath a viaduct, almost kept me dry all the way. Even got discount for the entry fee, because i'm a YHA member.

Walked around a bit and took some pictures and captured the area. It wasn't a large complex compared to the one in Sydney. The great basin where all the sharks are, was quite impressive, because you could turn 360 degrees around and watch them all the time.

After a while I left the aquarium and walked back into town. It was still raining a little bit. I didn't feel comfortable as I walked along the streets of Melbourne. I don't mean the people are a threat to me or something like that. I felt more like being sick. Before I arrived in Melbourne i've had the same feeling. Yes, it must be i'm not feeling well in Melbourne.

I needed to get out of Melbourne fast! Looking for travel agencies, but all the stores were closed today. Melbourne's Cup! Walked around for a bit and bought my groceries. Found a travel agency more for backpackers at closing time. Asked about the Great Ocean Road day trips. Got a brochure and took the tram back to the hostel.

In my room I ate some fruit, crisps and drank some water. Read the brochure and was thinking about booking the Great Ocean Road day trip for tomorrow. Went downstairs to the travel desk and booked the day trip. Felt much better, because I won't be in Melbourne tomorrow. Back in my room I had nothing to do, so I started to watch the video footage I had captured.

Seeing the introductions in the coach was really funny. Seems like ages ago, but it happened just two weeks ago. Seeing their faces and remembering who's who. Yes, it was a wonderful trip along the East coast, a trip to remember. It's getting late, big day tomorrow, needed some rest. Freshened up in the bathroom and went off to bed. Next
