Contiki Reunion (1) Saturday 17 November | ||
We headed to the Harbour Pylon lookout to climb it and walked to the Rocks area. Walking at the Harbour Bridge, you'll have a great view of the city and harbour. Once we arrived at the Pylon lookout we started to climb. It took a short time before we reached the entrance to the lookout, just need to pay $ 5 AUD to enter. Just a bargain for a scenic view of the city. On a sunny day like today, it's just fantastic! What a great city! Awesome! You are able to see people going up for the bridge climb. It's pretty expensive for a climb, maybe i'm doing it sometime. Taking pictures and capture the surroundings on tape, after a while we decided it was time to move on. Once outside the Pylon lookout we walked to middle of the Harbour Bridge, great opportunity to take pictures of the beautiful harbour. We walked back to the Rocks for lunch at a noodle shop. While enjoying our lunch we had the opportunity to look at every photo taken during our tour in New Zealand. Great to see the pictures, it brought back so many memories! I didn't bring mine along, because it could be seen on the internet. Afterwards we visited the Saturday market at the Rocks. Saw a lot nice things, but didn't buy anything because I was done shopping. We walked back to the Opera House, since I had done lots of things in Sydney there wasn't much we could do. Trent was called and took off. Matt came up with an idea to spot airplanes near Kingsford Smith Airport. So we all went with Matt's car to La Perouse. Using the scanner we could listen to the voices from the airport control and incoming flights. We drove a little further near the runway at the airport for a closer look at the airplanes. They came and took off. Too bad my camera wasn't able to zoom in for a better picture. After a while we went to the Mecure Hotel, near the hostel where i'm staying. Matt and Peter checked-in at the hotel and were getting ready for our night out. Rushed back to my hostel, met Abhirup, a new roommate and talked for a while. Almost forgot the time and went for a quick shower. Time flies! 6:30 PM. Rushed to the Mecure Hotel, no sign of Matt and Peter. Fortunately they were running late too! Marissa was also coming, so we waited at bar inside the hotel. We had a couple of drinks and talked. 7:30 PM. Marissa arrived and we could go for dinner at the Star City Casino. We took the light rail and just a few stops later we arrived at the Star City Casino. I had to leave my backpack behind before entering the Casino, because of safety reasons. Not a pleasant idea leaving my expensive camcorder and camera behind the counter. Took my tour photos with me and moved along. Marissa has eaten here before, but we couldn't find the exact eating place. We walked around for a bit to find a suitable place to eat. We found Fortunes, a restaurant were they have a buffet. We discussed and we agreed. For just $ 18.95 AUD, all you can eat. That was a pretty good deal, because I was starving. Walking all day really makes you hungry. We managed to get a free table and sat down. Time for dinner! Lots of delicious food to choose from like chicken, pork, beef, lamb and much more. I took a plate and put some fried rice, chicken wings, satay sauce and veggies on it. Looks very yummy! I brought my tour photos along so they could look at it. The food tasted very well, so I couldn't resist and went for another round. We talked for a while and later on we left the restaurant.
We walked from the Star Casino to Darling Harbour, once there we didn't know what to do. Marissa
knew a bar at George Street where we could go for a drink. We all agreed and off we go. I needed
to drop off my stuff at the hostel and Peter went along, we would meet Matt and Marissa later at
the bar. We had a couple of drinks and later on we called it a night. Walking back I said goodbye
to Marissa if we didn't meet up tomorrow. Took one picture of the gang, said goodbye and went
off to hostel.
