Day14

Whitsundays

Monday 29 October

6:45 AM. Woke up. A whole day free for leisure. Listening to music and wrote my dairy. It was already sunny outside and warm too! Took a shower and went for breakfast, bacon, scrambled eggs, potatoes, fruit and juice.

Today I wanted to do some bush walks. I walked along the beach to the wharf, but I must say it was pretty hot today. Wearing light coloured clothes, a cap and sunblock didn't help at all. I started to climb the first bushtrack, once at the summit I looked around and saw the signs how long these tracks are and I thought: it's too hot to do some bushwalks and returned to the resort.

The temperature rose to great heights today, it must have been 36 degrees at least. Too hot, not much you can do besides taking it easy and relax at the beach or at the swimming pool.

Lunch was a T-bone steak, chips, salad and a soft drink. Sat at the beach for a while and rented a jet-ski. Never been on a jet-ski before, I asked Paul to take a photo of me on the jet-ski. Got some instructions and rules and I was off.

First slowly, to an area where I could use the jet-ski. When I was there full throttle and I was off. Great fun to accelerate to full speed. Riding the waves at 80 km/h! Yeah! It was great to make turns and accelerate. Could do it the whole day, but time flies when you're having fun. 30 minutes later I had to return to base. It was a sad moment, but I had enjoyed it very much. Even when I lost my cap the first minutes, but that won't spoil my day.

During the day I went back to my room and sat at the balcony to write, but it was too hot. I can't cope with these high temperatures. Once again I went to the beach to cool down, because there was a nice and refreshing breeze. Took a dip into the pool with a bar. Nice and a good way to escape the heat. Stayed there for a long time.

I took a shower early in the evening before dinner time. Talked with Paul about Contiki and other stuff too before we went for dinner. Ordered something with chicken, prawns and vegetables. It was a delicious dinner. After dinner we went to the Sandbar. Outside the restaurant sat most of the group, still eating or just done.

Tonight karaoke night! That's always funny to watch. The highlight of tonight was when the girls were singing "Girls just wanna have fun" by Cyndi Lauper and when the boys were singing "You've lost that loving feeling" by the Righteous Brothers. Other songs were sung too, but I couldn't remember them.

Captured performances of Anita, Chris, Danny, Debbie, Jason, Julia, Leanne and Paul. Colin treated me on a rum cola, that was really kind. After drinking it I didn't feel to well. I don't drink alcohol, but for one time I tried. Got back to my room to lay down for a bit. That really helped. Back to Sandbar to have a nice glass of orange juice. Later I played pool with Andrew, Chris and John. Next
