Day16

Whitsundays to Cairns

Wednesday 31 October

5:30 AM. An early start today. Woke up, packed my remaining stuff and took a shower. 6:45 AM. Breakfast, bacon, scrambled eggs, sausages, toast and juice. These three days went so fast! I just can't believe it! Everyone on board, we left Long Island, for a short period. We had to go back, because Leanne had Anita's purse. I though Anita was late, but she wasn't. Today was her last day and she has to go back to Tasmania. A sad moment, because she doesn't end her tour in Cairns with the rest of the group.

Back on the mainland, Chris went off to get the coach. This gave us the some time to relax. Once back on the coach we travelled for a brief moment to pick up our three sailors, Keith, Mark and Nick. Today is also our longest drive in the coach, to Cairns. 9:00 AM. We headed to Townsville for lunch. Wanted to check my e-mails, but the connection was so slow. I didn't have to pay, because I couldn't get connected. After the 30 minute stop, we headed to Castle Hill, a short drive from Townsville. Here we had an incredible view of Townsville and the Magnetic Island. It was pretty sunny and hot too! Took some pictures and captured the surroundings of Castle Hill on tape.

Moving on to Tully for a small stop and bought three coffee rolls to eat. The first one tasted pretty good and I couldn't resist leaving the remaining two at the counter. Yummy! In the coach the movie Star Wars: The Phantom Menace was played. I really love Star Wars! It was nice to see it once again, although I've seen it a dozen times.

6:30 PM. We finally arrived at the Cairns Colonial Club Resort. All bags and personal belongings had to come off the coach, because Cairns is the last stop for most of us. Got our room keys and moved to our rooms. Unpacked most of my stuff. Needed to do my laundry, but that could wait till tomorrow.

7:30 PM. We went for an optional dinner out at the Fox & Firkin bistro. I had ordered crumbled chicken, vegetables and salad. The meal tasted very good! Played pool on a round pool table. Never seen it before, pretty funny to play on it. After our dinner we went next door, to the Tropos a cafe/bar for drinks and a good time. Yes, indeed even today the morning song came along. Everyone on their feet and dance. Half past midnight Ciska, John, Sylvia and I took a taxi back to our resort. Time to get some sleep. Next
