Day2

Singapore to Sydney

Wednesday 17 October

Boeing 747-400 MegaTop

Boeing 747-400 MegaTop from Singapore Airlines

7:00 AM local time. We landed in Singapore. It was a smooth landing. Time to stroll down the airport. 8:00 AM. I was already standing at the gate and the flight was at 10:30 AM. I stayed a while and decided it was too long to wait here and headed back to the shops. I exchanged 25 Dutch Guilders for US dollars. Bought Pringles and Fruitella at a mini-market. Walked around a bit and then headed back to the gate.

9:30 AM. Passed customs again and waited in the lounge room. Two passengers didn't showed up during the final boarding call. For safety reasons their luggage had to be removed, which meant a delay of 15 minutes. 11.30 AM. Finally we left Singapore, heading towards Sydney. Slept, played some videogames, ate, watched movies during the flight to Sydney.

8:00 PM. Touchdown at Kingsford Smith Airport. Passed customs by declaring food, which was much quicker than passing the normal customs. I was one of the first who entered the arrival hall. I asked about shuttle busses to the city at the information desk and went off to Sydney Central YHA. I'm going to stay there for a few days before my Contiki trip starts along the East coast.

9:15 PM. Arrived at the hostel, checked-in and paid by credit card. Off to my room on level 5. Entered the room and met Simon from New Zealand and Kazuyuki from Japan. Unpacked my stuff and introduced myself, talked a little bit about where we came from, etc. Later on I took a shower and was tired from the long-distance flight. Off to bed. Fortunately I arrived in the evening so the chance of getting a jetlag was minimal. This is great, so I can do more things tomorrow. Needed to get some sleep... Zzzz... Next
