
Day 1: Sydney to Coffs Harbour
Before heading across the famous Harbour Bridge, we'll make a photostop taking in the harbour and Opera House.
Then north along the 'holiday coast' to our accommodation at Coffs Harbour. Swim, play volley ball and get to
know your fellow travellers.
Day 2: Coffs Harbour to Surfers Paradise
Continuing north, we stop at Cape Byron where you may glimpse migrating whales or dolphins playing in the surf.
Then there is chance to swim or shop in Byron Bay, a trendy beachside town. We then cross into Queensland and
head for Surfers Paradise, our home for the next 2 nights. Tonight you'll have the chance to try your luck at
Jupiter's Casino.
Day 3 Surfers Paradise at Leisure
A full day to enjoy the 42km coastline of white sand beaches and the lure of world-class shopping that makes
Surfers Paradise and the Gold Coast such a highlight. For the thrill seekers, why not try tandem skydiving,
scenic flights in antique bi-planes or rides on the back of Harley Davidson motorcycles. If you are a nature lover,
explore the peaceful hinterland with a 4-wheel drive excursion to rainforests and waterfalls. Theme park wise take
the opportunity to visit Movie World, Sea World and Dreamworld. All of these are available as optional excursions
so you can plan your day to suit yourself. Tonight is a free evening with the chance to dine at a local theatre
restaurant, completing your time in Australia's largest playground.
Day 4: Surfers Paradise to Farmstay
Our first stop of the day will be in Queensland's capital city, Brisbane. You will have some time to sightsee,
shop or just explore this exciting cosmopolitan city. Then we head to the fertile farming country known as the
Darling Downs. Tour the farm on an optional horseride before we kick up your heels at tonight's bushdance.
Day 5: Farmstay to Fraser Island
Heading down the mountain we make our way to the Sunshine Coast where a stop at Forest Glen Wildlife Sanctuary
will allow us to get up close to the koalas, kangaroos and wombats. We continue to Noosa Heads, a beautiful resort
town with a National Park, stunning beach and exclusive shopping - something for everyone. From here we head up
the coast, before catching a late launch across to Fraser Island, our home for the next two nights.
Day 6: Fraser Island at Leisure
Enjoy the largest sand island in the world! Maybe take a 4-wheel drive bus tour through the rainforests or take a
guided bush walk. From Aug-Oct you can cruise out to Hervey Bay to whale watch.
Day 7: Fraser Island to the Capricorn Coast
We take a morning launch back to the mainland and later cross the Tropic of Capricorn en route to Rockhampton,
gateway city to the Tropics. This afternoon a visit to the Dreamtime Aboriginal Cultural Centre will give us an
opportunity to learn about the culture of Australia's indigenous people. For dinner we have the option of visiting
the Koorana Crocodile Farm, where in between courses, you tour the farm and come 'face-to-fang' with huge
estuarine crocodiles.
Day 8: Capricorn Coast to Whitsundays
Today we travel through Mackay, the sugar capital of Australia, before entering Airlie Beach, gateway to the
Whitsundays, where you'll have a brief chance to shop and soak up the atmosphere. We continue to Shute Harbour,
where we board our launch for the short journey to Long Island.
Days 8-11 Optional Whitsunday Sailing
If you have booked the 3 night Whitsunday Flotilla Sailing option, you will join your yacht late in the afternoon
of Day 8. The next three nights will be spent on board your fully equipped yacht, sailing the spectacular
Whitsunday Islands. Explore the natural beauty of this tropical paradise with only the breezes deciding your
course. You'll have the chance to swim, snorkel, fish or just laze on the deck. On Day 11, you rejoin the tour
at Shute Harbour after breakfast.
Day 9: The Whitsundays
Free time today to enjoy the beauty of Long Island. Play tennis, go for bushwalks, try some watersports such
as parasailing, tube rides or jet skis or maybe learn to water ski. Take a lounge chair onto the beach or play
volleyball. Sip cocktails on the verandah as you watch the glorious sunset.
Day 10: The Whitsundays
Today why don't you take the opportunity to find out why the Whitsundays is the premier sailing region in
Australia with a day sail? Sail past Hamilton Island, through Solway Passage and reach beautiful Whitehaven
Beach (weather dependant), with its pristine sand and aquamarine water. Have lunch on board before you sail
back to Long Island.
Day 11: Whitsundays to Cairns
We take a morning launch back to the mainland before we continue to our next stop, Townsville - capital of far
north Queensland. We'll have time to explore and visit the scenic lookout of Castle Hill, overlooking Cleveland
Bay and Magnetic Island. Then we continue north past the Hinchinbrook Channel, dotted with islands, on our way to
Cairns and the Rihga Colonial Club Resort.
Day 12: Cairns at Leisure
For those with an adventurous spirit, today there is a chance to try white-water rafting on the rapids of the
Tully River. If rafting's not your thing the day is free to relax or check out the delights of Cairns.
Day 13: Cairns at Leisure
This morning we visit Port Douglas. Why not also experience the wonder of the Great Barrier Reef? Treat yourself
to an unforgettable reef cruise aboard a high speed wave-piercing catamaran, swim, go snorkeling, scuba diving,
no experience necessary! Round off a perfect day... make the most of Cairns' nightlife.
Day 14: Cairns
Our tour finishes this morning, but why not extend your stay here. Take a scenic railway journey to Kuranda
or ride high above the rainforest canopy on the Skyrail. Go up in a hot air balloon over the Atherton tablelands
or visit the Tjapukai Aboriginal Cultural Centre to watch traditional dancers and learn how to throw a boomerang
and a spear.
